# After implant surgery

The first two weeks matter most for the implant to settle into the bone.

## Do

- Take any medication exactly as prescribed for you
- Cold packs on the cheek for the first 24–48 hours
- Soft foods, chewing on the other side
- Gentle salt-water rinses from the next day
- Keep your review appointment

## Don't

- Smoking or vaping — it affects healing
- Pressing on the area or wearing a denture over it unless we've adjusted it
- Hard exercise for 2–3 days

## What's normal

- Swelling and bruising for 3–5 days
- Slight oozing on the first day
- Mild discomfort managed with pain relief

## When to call us

- Bleeding that won't stop
- Pain or swelling that gets worse after day 3
- Fever, or the implant or cover screw feels loose
