At Singh Advanced Dentistry, Digital Smile Design (DSD) is more than just a planning tool — it's a collaborative journey that gives you the power to shape your perfect smile before treatment begins. Here’s how it works:
Step 1: Digital Photography & Videography
During your initial consultation, we capture a series of high-quality photographs and videos of your face, teeth, and smile from multiple angles. This helps us analyse how your smile interacts with your facial expressions — whether you're talking, laughing, or simply smiling.
We also take impressions and assess the current condition of your teeth to guide treatment planning. By using your face as the blueprint, we ensure your new smile is balanced, natural-looking, and uniquely yours.
Step 2: 2D & 3D Smile Planning
Using advanced digital software, we design a 2D visual mock-up of your new smile. This includes adjusting tooth shape, size, length, and colour to harmonise with your facial features. The design is then translated into a 3D plan — laying the foundation for a truly personalised smile makeover.
Step 3: The 3D Wax Model
From the digital design, we create a handcrafted 3D wax model on a plaster cast. This tangible version allows us to fine-tune the design with precision and prepares us for your smile prototype.
Step 4: The Smile Prototype
This is your preview moment. We place a temporary, removable version of your new smile directly onto your teeth — giving you the chance to experience how it looks and feels in real life. You’ll be able to evaluate the aesthetics, comfort, and fit, and request any refinements before we proceed.
Step 5: Final Fit & Treatment
Once you’re completely happy with the design, we remove the prototype and prepare your teeth for the final step: delivering your custom-designed smile. Treatment begins with full confidence, knowing the end result has already been carefully planned and personally approved.
Digital Smile Design empowers you to co-create a smile that’s both beautiful and uniquely yours.

Tailored Treatment. Transparent Pricing.
The cost of your Digital Smile Design journey depends entirely on your unique needs — because every smile we create is as individual as the person behind it.
One of the key benefits of the DSD approach is the comprehensive planning that takes place before any treatment begins. This allows us to map out your smile transformation in detail, outlining the time, treatments, and investment required before you commit to anything.
Depending on your customised plan, your DSD treatment may include one or more of the following:
Dental veneers
Crowns or bridges
Dental implants
Fixed dentures
Invisalign or other orthodontic treatments
Once your new smile is digitally designed, we’ll provide you with a detailed, upfront breakdown of all costs — no surprises, just clarity. And because Singh Advanced Dentistry is based in Cape Town, you’ll benefit from world-class care at competitive local rates.
-
Your initial Digital Smile Design consultation typically takes less than an hour. During this time, we’ll capture high-quality photographs and videos of your full face, smile, and dental structure. We’ll also take a digital or physical impression of your teeth to help us plan your ideal smile.
Every consultation is tailored to your unique needs. The time may vary slightly depending on your individual case, as we take the opportunity to conduct a thorough analysis and answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Is the Digital Smile Design Process Painful?
Not at all. In fact, most patients describe the experience as feeling more like a professional photoshoot than a dental visit. There are no drills, no injections, and no discomfort involved in this initial step.
At Singh Advanced Dentistry, your comfort is always our priority. From start to finish, we’ll guide you through each part of the process with care, clarity, and compassion — ensuring you're informed, relaxed, and confident every step of the way.
