# 3D printed dentures

3D printed dentures at Singh Advanced Dentistry in Gardens, Cape Town are full or partial dentures designed on a computer from a digital scan of your mouth and then 3D printed, including metal-free flexible partial dentures.

A quick digital scan replaces impression putty, your new teeth are designed on screen, and the denture is 3D printed to fit closely.

## At a glance

- Time in the chair: —
- Number of visits: —
- Recovery: A few weeks to get used to a new denture

## Is this right for me?

- You're missing one or more teeth and want a removable option
- You'd like a partial denture with no metal clasps on show
- You need teeth while an implant or your gums heal
- Your current denture is loose, worn or uncomfortable

## How they're made

We take a digital scan of your mouth instead of an impression. Your new teeth are then designed on a computer, so their shape, size and position are planned before anything is made.

The denture is 3D printed in a dental resin, finished and fitted at the practice, with small adjustments as you get used to it.

## Flexible partial dentures

A flexible partial denture replaces one or a few missing teeth. It's metal-free and holds onto your natural teeth with gum-coloured clasps, so there's no metal showing when you smile.

They're light to wear and are often used while an implant heals, or as a longer-term option where a fixed tooth isn't suitable.

## Full dentures

If you're missing all the teeth in your upper or lower jaw, a full denture can be designed and printed the same way, with the shape and shade of the teeth chosen to suit your face.

## Living with a new denture

It usually takes a few weeks to get used to a new denture. Speaking and eating can feel different at first, and we'll see you to make adjustments.

Brush your denture daily with a soft brush, take it out at night unless we advise otherwise, and keep it in water or a soaking solution when it's out. Avoid hot water, which can warp it.

## Frequently asked questions

### How long do 3D printed dentures take?

It depends on your plan, for example whether any teeth need to come out first. We'll give you a timeline at your consultation.

### Is a flexible partial denture right for me?

They suit replacing one or a few teeth. If you're missing more teeth, a full denture, bridge or implants may suit you better, and we'll talk you through the options.

### How do I look after my denture?

Brush it daily with a soft brush, rinse it after meals, take it out at night unless advised otherwise and keep it in water or a soaking solution. Avoid hot water and abrasive toothpaste.

### Can I have implants later?

Yes. A denture is often used while you plan implant treatment or while an implant heals.
